Series 9000 Performs Flawlessly through 932 Miles (1,500 km) of Australian Outback Dirt When Wayne, known as "Nugget" on the HummerXClub forum, was planning to leave for a 3853 mile (6,200 kilometer) trip through the Australian Outback, including 932 miles (1,500 km) of dirt, he new it was time to "bite the bullet" and install a Sy-Klone Series 9000 Precleaner on his Hummer 3. The Series 9000 is mounted on a Safari Snorkel, which is a modern (and better looking) version of the fording pipe used by military HumVees. Wayne says "I would comfortably have still water over the bonnet, as this rig has a 4-inch Rancho lift and runs 35 inches." <Read our news stories about the installation and about the results> Wayne says "Worth every cent, I reckon!" After all those miles of dirt, the air filter is almost as clean as when he started this trip. On his return, Wayne said "The Series 9000 Precleaner seems to have increased my engine performance, fuel efficiency and the biggest thing is- have a look at my filter- it is nearly as clean as it went in before the trip!" It sits more flush with the roof line and is centered above the top of the Snorkel, creating a more pleasing line. Engine Performance was excellent and unrestricted (he was previously having problems getting unrestricted airflow to the supercharger, which was hampering engine performance). Fuel Efficiency was surprising - on the way back we attained 15.43 miles per gallon (15.3 litres / 100 kms) and this was with 1,764 lbs (800 kg) of extra gear and all the "beefed- up" specifications: H3 Adventure.
