Sizing & Mounting Questions

1. What is an ejective air precleaner?
An atmosphere ejective air precleaner is a device that ejects air born debris before it enters the air filter. The advantages of an atmosphere ejective air precleaner are numerous. Click on benefits to explore other areas of our web site.
2. Where and how can I use them?
Our products can be used in any environment and atmosphere. Our products are currently used on equipment in forestry, landfill, mining and agricultural environments. If you are trying to find a precleaner to fit your needs, please call our sales team at 1-800-351-8265.
3. What other types of precleaners are there?
Many machines use ingestive air systems that swallow dirt particles instead of releasing particles back into the atmosphere. Ingestive systems collect debris and require maintenance, either dumping or cleaning. The Series 9000 Air Precleaners eject debris before it enters the air intake, keeping air filters cleaner longer and protecting engines.  It easily replaces ingestive systems.
4. What information do I need to decide which size precleaner to purchase?
You need to know the CFM of the engine. It is also important to know the OD (outside diameter) of the intake pipe for installation.
5. How do you know if I have the right precleaner for my machine?
Please use the Series 9000 Online Sizing Calculator or refer to the Airflow, Dimensions & Hood Clearance page.
6. If the precleaner intake size doesn't fit the air intake pipe, what do I do?
Use an adapter kit, which should be ordered when the precleaner is ordered or measure the inlet pipe on the equipment and order the adaptation kit that matches to that size. Click here for installation kits and adaptation parts.
7. Do all precleaners fit the inlet or can they be adapted to all inlet sizes?
The Series 9000 is designed with 5 standard intake sizes-2-inch, 3-inch, 4-inch, 5-inch, 6-inch, and 8-inch. If your inlet pipe is not one of these sizes, we have installation kits to size inlet pipes with outer diameters from 1 to 16-inches. Remember that the model is selected not by inlet size, but according to the airflow required by the engine. Please use the Series 9000 Online Sizing Calculator or refer to the Airflow, Dimensions & Hood Clearance page.
8. Should the precleaner be mounted down close to the hood or high in the air?
It should not be mounted flush against any part of the machine as space is needed to allow unrestricted airflow into the precleaner. Neither do we recommend putting the precleaner high in the air on an extended pipe, as the farther away the air intake is from the engine, the more added restriction. To find the model-specific recommended hood clearance measurement, please refer to our Airflow, Dimensions & Hood Clearance page.
9. What if you do not know what size precleaner you require?
Use our Series 9000 Online Sizing Calculator or refer to the Airflow, Dimensions & Hood Clearance page. If, after using the calculator, you still have questions, please contact us.
10. What is the difference between an extension and expansion adapter?
The extension pipe is straight and raises the height of the precleaner, which may be necessary for adequate hood clearance. The expansion adapter assists in fitting the outer diameter of a large intake pipe to a smaller precleaner.

11.

What is a DVP plug or DVP cap, and how and why is it used? Is there only one size?

The DVP plug is designed to replace the dust vacuator valve on a filter housing. This will prevent your engine from drawing dirty air through the filter housing. Some installation kits include DVP caps. Individual DVP caps (and other installation parts) in various sizes are available from our dealers.

Technical Questions

13. Why is the Sy-Klone Series 9000 made of engineered polymer material?
This polymer is more durable, lighter, and less expensive than any metal product.
14. Are the bearings shielded or sealed?

The bearings are sealed to prevent contamination and extend the precleaner's useful life.

15. How fast does the rotor spin on average?

Approximately 3000 RPM.

16.

How long will a Sy-Klone Air Precleaner last?

It depends on the application, but most will last many years. They are engineered to last, with rugged polymer construction and corrosion-resistant sealed bearings.
17.

Can I replace the dome or bearings in the Series 9000 Precleaner?

No, there are no field service parts.

18.

How many types of screens can you get for the Sy-Klone?

Our perforated metal heavy-debris screen is available for the 9001, 9002, 9003, and 9004 model precleaners. There is also a mesh agricultural screen available for those models.
19. Is it true that the Sy-Klone Air Precleaners never need maintenance, such as oiling the bearings?

Yes. This is a self-cleaning, routine-maintenance free product. We recommend that the precleaner be removed and the rotor inspected every 6 months for proper operation.

20.

What is the warranty?

We are proud of the fact that claims against our Warranty are negligible, almost nonexistent.
